Virtually all steam producing boilers operate with pretreated feedwater. While simple sodium zeolite softening is still the most common pretreatment scheme, the need to conserve energy, reduce treatment costs, and improve steam purity has pressed other pretreatment systems into service. Even returned condensate, often the purest source of makeup water in the plant is sometimes polished and pretreated before it enters the boiler.
American Water Technique's AWT staff engineers have extensive experience with all types of pretreatment, including multiple unit demineralizers, reverse osmosis and condensate polishers. In addition, some of our support personnel are experts in hot process lime/lime soda softening and in-line filtration pretreatment. We can help enhance zeolite softening with RO membranes, replace hot process softening with other options and optimize regeneration and pretreatment costs with competent plant audits and surveys
