Is Your Drinking Water Giving You Diabetes? A press release in August of this year announced findings by the U.S. Government linking low-level amounts of arsenic in drinking water to Type 2 Diabetes. The U.S. Government will continue to research this matter. Many Municipalities in the U.S. are already implementing solutions to reduce arsenic in potable water. 788 adults were underwent medical tests which showed a 4X increase in the risk of Type 2 Diabetes in people with low arsenic concentrations in their urine. Studies in foreign countries have showed similar results. These findings also appear in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
DMI-65 Media has been proven to remove arsenic from water down to < 1 part per billion (PPB). The current Drinking Water Standard for arsenic in the U.S. is 10 PPB. DMI-65 is an infused silica sand material that acts as an oxidation catalyst and has a life expectancy of 5-7 years. DMI-65 is a simple and cost effective way of removing arsenic and other metals from drinking water. It was developed in Japan over twenty (20) years ago and has been used in Municipal Plants around the world since then. DMI-65 is manufactured in Australia and became available in the U.S. about a year and a half ago. K2O Consulting can run on-site pilot testing and provide filtration systems for arsenic removal using the DMI-65 Media. Another benefit of DMI-65 is that existing manganese green sand filter systems can easily be converted to accommodate the use of DMI-65. For additional information, please contact K2O Consulting.
